SELF-REGISTRATION BY NOVEMBER 4TH IS REQUIRED FOR SEATING AND LUNCH ARRANGEMENTS. ATTENDANCE IS $25 (payable at the door) WHICH INCLUDES LUNCH. TO REGISTER, GO HERE. __________ Each year, the Rotary Club of Guelph's Friday meeting on or before November 11th is a Remembrance Day Assembly. This year, our special luncheon and gathering will take place on Friday, November 6th, 2026 from 12 noon to 1:45pm at the Italian Canadian Club. Our guest speakers will be: Andrea Moyer, a local military wife and elementary school teacher who has educated thousands of children about Remembrance through the in-school assemblies and learning programs she has coordinated for 25+ years. Based on her exceptional commitment and experience in this regard, she was one of 20 teachers from across Canada chosen to attend a very special "educator trip" to Juno Beach in the summer of 2026. Andrea will share this amazing experience with us and remind us about the importance of Remembrance. Alex Fitzgerald-Black, the Executive Director of Canada's Juno Beach Centre Association. A published historian, Alex currently lives in Guelph and will provide additional information about the Juno Beach Centre, Canada's World War II museum and cultural centre located in Normandy, France. We hope you will join us, and also invite family, friends and colleagues to attend this Remembrance event at our club. Attendance fee is $25 (payable at the door by card-tap or cash) to cover lunch costs, and pre-registration for this event is required by November 4th. 09 Nov. 2026 New Member Orientation Meeting Nov. 09, 2026 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Each year, our club holds an orientation meeting for new and prospective members. Our next meeting will be on Monday evening, November 9th, 2026 at the offices of Intrigue Media on Laird Road. As usual, it will be a wine and cheese event. Attendance is free. All members are welcome to attend, especially those in their first two years of membership, or folks/friends considering Rotary and wanting to learn a bit more, or experienced members and leaders who would like to share information and encouragement, and/or bring a prospective member to learn more about our club.

23 Feb. 2027 Rotary Beginnings-Feb 23rd Feb. 23, 2027 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 1905 After setting up his law practice in Chicago, Paul P. Harris gathered several business associates to discuss the idea of forming an organization for local professionals. On 23 February 1905 Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey gathered at Loehr’s office in Room 711 of the Unity Building in downtown Chicago. This was the first Rotary club meeting. Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member. THE ROTARY CLUB OF GUELPH BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 1920 On February 23, 1920, 25 Guelph businessmen held an organizational meeting to form a new Rotary Club. Under the leadership of Alex Stewart (a Guelph pharmacist), the club was officially chartered on April 9, 1920 at the Royal Canadian Cafe. Over the years, the RCOG met at different locations for the weekly meetings. Moves from one location to another were usually prompted by changes in membership numbers. The RCOG went on to sponsor the following nine clubs: Kitchener, 1922 Orangeville, 1936 Acton, 1947 Drayton, 1950 Georgetown, 1955 Fergus, 1966 Guelph Wellington, 1986 Guelph Trillium, 1995 Guelph South, 2003
