WORLD COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE MANDATE

  • Committee members support international projects deemed feasible by the Club and may include several locations such as Africa, Asia, South and Central America, and Mexico.
  • Currently supporting ongoing projects in Lesotho, Uganda , Cameroon and are in mid-stage discovery in Guatemala.
  • Committee members work in teams, often committing to work on a specific project for 1-3 years.
  • Committees seek out additional international projects that would benefit from a hand-up.
  • Participate in and support other clubs’ international projects where resources and technical skills may be shared – and in turn gain potential support of our own club's projects
  • The committee also champions the ShelterBox program which provides shelter and disaster relief worldwide.
  • Funds are raised through local Rotary programs as well as Global (matching) Grants through The Rotary Foundation (TRF), Rotary International's endowment fund. Where possible, members also raise independent funds from sources outside of Rotary.
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION (TRF)

  • The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is the humanitarian service arm of Rotary International with a worldwide mission “to promote goodwill, understanding and peace among the peoples of the world”
  • TRF accomplishes this mission through its grants program in which Rotarians receive funding from TRF to work in cooperation with Rotarians in another country to carry out humanitarian projects.
  • TRF is funded by voluntary annual contributions from members who receive Paul Harris fellow recognition when certain giving levels are received.
  • This committee’s role includes education and promotion of the work and results achieved by our contribution to and funds received by TRF in our international humanitarian efforts.
