ERADICATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING
In 2021, three local Rotary Clubs joined forces to form this “Eradicating Human Trafficking” Committee:

Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium
Rotary Club of Guelph
It's purpose has been to raise awareness about the scourge of human trafficking through presentations, garden signs, annual flag-raising at City Hall, publishing a quarterly newsletter, etc.
Here is a brief summary of this committee's activities in the years 2021-2026:
- Started with the Guelph South Club after hearing from Luisa of Elora House.
- Organized an online series on September 28,2022 with a panel, including Karly Church
- On October 26 held another meeting on zoom with Major Rachel Lamont (Salvation Army as speaker)
- On November 30 held third meeting in the series with representatives from Rotary Clubs in Texas and Thailand
- Organized a collection of items through the Bargains Group – like a wedding registry – people purchased items for Elora House and received a tax receipt – we called it Rotary Cares
- Held two movie nights at The Bookshelf, with speakers after the movie
- Installed a camera at Duff’s Church to monitor what was happening in their parking lot (close to 401)
- Designed and distributed yard signs, with 57 people signed up
- Created and distributed bookmark
- Held Flag Raising at City Hall each year, with Mayor and other speakers in attendance.
- Held a community meeting at Salvation Army Citadel with panel of three people, including Vicki Olatundun – 50 people in attendance
- Held a community meeting at All Saints Lutheran Church – October 7, 2025– with Karly Church as speaker
- Published 5 issues of “Against Traffick”, focusing on different aspects –distributed to 170 subscribers through Constant Contact
- Hosted meeting for high school student Bella Hamilton to share her work on communicating with parents
- Held meetings with Guelph Police, Women in Crisis and Victims Services to discuss what we can do
As of 2026-2027, this Committee is reviewing its strategy on how to move forward during the next five years, aiming for greater connection and collaboration with other organizations addressing the same issue.
