Rotary was awarded "Sponsor of the Year" award at CEC's annual breakfast at the ICC on May 26, 2023. The theme of “Honouring Our Roots and Shaping Our Future” highlighted Rotary’s re-engagement with an organization that Rotary helped initiate in 1990.

On behalf of Rotary, President Designate Elect Brian Martin accepted the award.

Fifteen Rotarians were present as CEC celebrated being back in person to recognize the year’s achievements with students and sponsors.

Lots of conversation ensued as students networked with the sponsors and mentors in the room. CEC staff reviewed the various programs run throughout the year and were enthusiastic about record breaking attendance by Upper Grand and Wellington Catholic students. A highlight was the keynote speaker – Kate Parr – a JFRoss grad and former CEC student participant who spoke about the importance of mentoring as she pursued a career as a Millwright – one of only a few females in the profession in the province. Her talk brought into focus the important role that we as Rotarians, with our wide variety of professions and our call to do Vocational Service, can play in helping young people reach their own career goals.
