Together, the Rotary Clubs of Guelph, Guelph Trillium and Guelph South have been actively working to eradicate human trafficking, through a speaker series, signs across the community, and now a newsletter – Against Traffick.
As asked in the newsletter, why is human trafficking so prevalent in Guelph, Wellington, Waterloo Region and Southern Ontario? The answer is Highway 401, as it’s the corridor of exploitation, enabling the movement of primarily girls and young women throughout Ontario.
The goal of this short, three-page newsletter is to create awareness of the issue and provide resources to support families and women.
The quarterly newsletter will be distributed through existing networks, building on the relationships already established by the Eradicating Human Trafficking Committee.
Plans are underway to launch another speaker series in January, 2025.
