OUR COMMITTEE MANDATE

•    Our Children & Youth Committee supports children and youth in the community (up to age 25) in the areas of health, education, protection, social development, life enrichment, leadership development, and vocational guidance.

•    We focus on a combination of funding, service, and building connections.

•    We hold monthly meetings on Zoom, for one hour, at 9am on the second Friday of each month. We do not hold meetings in July or August.

OUR COMMITTEE VALUES

Our committee uses these five VALUES in making project and budget recommendations to our board:

1. Thorough annual reviews of the needs and outcomes of proposed organizations/projects.

2.  Prioritization of competing needs using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs:

3. Seeking service opportunities for Rotarians (emphasis on providing Service Above Self, and not only providing funds).

      4. Rotary brand enhancement – through connections, history and support (e.g. Rotary-inspired beginnings, board representation, current engagement by members, raising general awareness of Rotary).

      5. Building community connections (e.g. links to the Grove Hub, to other Rotary projects, and supporting potential connections between community services and through Rotary’s amazing networks).

The following chapters touch on some of our club's most important history and contributions over the years, right up to our present day activities. Our Rotary Club of Guelph takes pride in all these efforts.

Many thanks to Barb Holmes for researching and compiling much of our earlier information, and Terrie Jarvis for updating newer activities.
