With great sadness we have learned that Jim Anderson passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 with his family around him. Jim was an active and treasured member of our club for 31 years until his retirement in 2022. He was recently recognized by the Rotary Club of Guelph as an Honorary Member for Life.
The news about Jim's passing was relayed to our club member Helmuth Slisarenko by Jim's wife, Delvia. At close to 90 years old, Jim had been experiencing a third bout of pneumonia this year which proved to be too much on top of his lifelong struggle with diabetes.

Helmuth had been bringing Jim to Wednesday afternoon curling up until a month ago. Jim enjoyed playing immensely and still had amazing skill for a person of his age. He was a past president and a "Member for Life" of the Guelph Curling Club. Helmuth and Jim had some 30 years of shared curling memories, and Jim's loss is deeply felt.

At our Rotary Club, Jim was an active volunteer throughout his years and led tree planting for many years as “Sunny” Jim along with Larry “Red” Kelly.

At Rotary's meeting on April 28th, Helmuth paid warm tribute to Jim and his Rotary service, sharing this iconic photo of Jim volunteering at Canada Day In The Park in 2018, on one of the hottest July 1sts ever. May Jim's memory and example of service inspire us all!
