June 25, 2021

It's hard to believe that Tracey's year as club president for 2020-2021 ends in a few days' time ... with every single club meeting conducted online this whole year!  And what a year it has been with all the Covid-19 restrictions. Never to be forgotten.

Despite the many challenges, our club pulled through in fine style and good shape, adding new members, conducting some brand new fundraisers, and managing to conduct old fundraisers in new ways. In the worst of times, we experienced the best of Rotary.

Assistant District Governor Darlene Carpenter attended Tracey's "swan song" meeting to personally thank her and also the Rotary Club of Guelph.

Plus ... Darlene is now handing over the role of Assistant District Governor to Tracey for the next three years.  Read Darlene's beautiful speech below.

SPEECH BY DARLENE CARPENTER
Assistant District Governor, GW Rotary Cluster
At Rotary Club of Guelph meeting, June 25, 2021

Tracey, I would like to take this opportunity, as Assistant Governor of the Guelph Wellington 7 Club Cluster during your year as Club President, to sincerely thank you, on behalf of the other 6 Rotary clubs and myself that formed the 2020 - 2021 Guelph Wellington cluster.

2020 – 2021 was a Rotary year like no other, filled with challenge, pivoting and change, but, at the same time, also providing a unique opportunity for the 7 clubs in the GW cluster to come together, working effectively and sharing ideas ….. to develop Rotary friendships, to try new approaches like navigating new ways to host meetings using Zoom with amazing guest speakers, to try new fundraising ideas like Christmas gift bags supporting local businesses, and drive-through food events, all the while focusing on service and caring for others that needed our Rotary help during a Covid pandemic.

Somehow, looking back, the Rotary theme for Tracey’s year of “Rotary Opens Opportunities” was most fitting and Tracey did exactly that……

As the GW cluster of the 7 clubs came together, Tracey represented the Rotary Club of Guelph with grace, enthusiasm, caring, dedication and she professionally contributed to the cluster initiative resulting in so many Rotary team successes.

Tracey, your efforts are especially appreciated by the entire cluster team for so many activities you participated in.

Thank you for your many contributions and your work with the members of "the Friday club" to support and work with the Guelph Wellington 7 club team through your leadership, sense of Rotary purpose, passion for Rotary ideals, organizational skills, and readiness to take action with a can-do attitude.

Your contributions and your 'Service above Self' make the Guelph Wellington community a better place to be.

Tracey, again, on behalf of the GW cluster team, thank you and all the members of your club for all you do for Rotary. A job well done!

Congratulations for an amazing year and for stepping up to be the next Assistant District Governor representing the Guelph Wellington Cluster.   Congratulations!
