Keeping wandering community members safe - it goes beyond Rogers

Wow, last Friday had some huge impacts around our communities, when we lost our Rogers connections!  Most of us were simply inconvenienced but there were others for whom the impact was much more serious.  For people in the community who might wander - often those living with Alzheimers Disease or Autism - the fear from their families is a daily concern and truly complicated by last week’s event.

Did you know that Guelph-Wellington has an amazing program for this community that is not dependent on the internet and can usually find people within an hour?  it's thanks to some old-school technology that beats Rogers, hands down.   As community members who connect regularly, we all need to know about this program managed by Victim Services Wellington, in partnership with Guelph Police Service.

Liz Kent, Executive Director of Victim Services Wellington will share how the program came to be, how it works and the stunning impact.  The savings in time, manpower, costs ... not to mention avoided trauma for individuals and families ... is immense.  And you fans of the "let's see what we can build" approach will love it!
