leaners provides relief and development organizations with vegetable mix
es and fruit snacks that are nutritious\, versatile and easily transported
to areas of need in developing countries around the world. These orga
nizations have the necessary infrastructure for effective distribution and
are committed to sustainability and development. Provided free – p
aid for by the love and participation of volunteers and the financial and
in-kind gifts of faithful supporters. HOW WE DO IT Established in 20
08\, the ‘Gleaners’ is a registered charity that is both volunteer a
nd donor driven. Hundreds of volunteer hours are contributed each week
to process 10\,000+ kg of donated produce\, assisted by the generous supp
ort of our financial donors. Weekday mornings\, volunteers arrive re
ady to trim 1800 – 3200 kg of donated fresh produce. The trimmed produ
ced is diced in our dicing machine\, dried and mixed and packaged into 30\
,000 servings of vegetable mix- that's up to 150\,000 nutritious meals
